Here’s some sound advice!
First the don’ts.
DO NOT USE lice sprays, Raid, or prescription head lice products.
Do NOT continue to use the Lice SPRAYS. You have no idea how bad they may be. Vaccuum instead. Read the link above.
You can stop the housecleaning and clothes washing madness.I panicked the first time I had head lice and washed all my clothes in my house, and sprayed my mattress and even baseboards (?!) with lice sprays. But there is no need. ( My nightmare page explains more)
A common thing women say when I mention that I am a Holistic Head Lice Removal specialist is ” Sigh… head lice…(sigh) and you have to wash and clean everything in the house, and all the sheets…sigh… what a nightmare…sigh…”
Yes. I did the same thing… but …not anymore… read on…
Some wise tips on head lice treatment:
1. Do not use the head lice pesticides. You are not alone in discovering the bugs are basically resistant to the insecticides
(see Nix – Permethrin not working article)
Even in 1991 when I got head lice for the first time, the pesticidal products did not work for me. (see My Nightmare)
If you have discovered for yourself that the pesticides don’t work, you are correct.
Google “head lice treatment failure” or “head lice resistant to pesticides” to see the truth about how lice are immune to the pesticides.
The bugs are basically resistant to the pesticides, so all you are doing is putting pesticides on your child’s HEAD …not to mention on yourself as you are likely not wearing protective gloves.
Lice pesticides are supposed to be used only twice at the maximum. Period – not 6 or more times. I would not apply another lice pesticide if the first failed to work. I also would not put on “the second application”. Period.
2. Do not spray the mattress, pillow, couch, rug, helmet, car or anything with the head lice pesticidal sprays. Do NOT use the Lice SPRAYS.
Also, never spray cockroach bug killer spray on your head or your childrens head.
3. Avoid putting prescription lice products on children or anyone. The FDA is now warning that Lindane - even used as directed – can cause seizures or death in infants or elderly people. The FDA is stating that no one under 110 pounds is to have Lindane applied to them.
Good Morning America Report on lindane and Santiago child’s lawsuit
If you would like to see what Lindane did to a young boy who had it applied on him frequently to try to cure scabies, watch this 2 minute good Morning America Clip. (see the 9th movie). Please watch the movie, so you will be know how damaging it can be.
Jessies story is also worth reading and one of the reasons why I decided to help cure people of head lice.
True story:
A young Kauai mother in September 2010, was prescribed Lindane for her two year old.
Fortunately, the young mom read the label which said it may cause seizures and death, and the person applying it must wear gloves.
She thought, “hmmm. If I am to wear gloves, it may not be safe.”
Fortunately, the mother called me before she applied any of the Lindane, I was able to cure her and her two year old in just a few hours.
Good News! I believe that doctors office are no longer prescribing Lindane, and instead, just say, call UkuBusters to get cured.
What to do then if we are not to use pesticides?
The KEY to removing a head lice infestation is to remove all lice eggs (nits) and head lice from the hair. How? To do it by hand, can take literally months.
To do it FAST and efficiently, you need a professional-grade nit removal comb, a proven simple to follow method, and ideally, excellent magnification tool and needle-nose tweezers.
We provide Mail-Order Kits with what you need and a wonderfully effective in home nit removal service.
Pesticides will not remove the LICE EGGS.
How to clean house?
We humans are very lucky that the head louse dies without a blood meal from a human, within 48 hours.
(they dehydrate without blood)
Focus your attention on the head, not the environment.
So, after you have done my Method on Day 1, simply strip the bed and pillowcases Once.
Put them in the clothes dryer on HIGH for 20 to 30 minutes. Once.
Vacuum couch, rugs, chairs, car seats, bike helmets, child carrier seats on bikes, etc. Once.
Typical Financial Cost of battling head lice
I estimate that a parent can easily spend 100 hours struggling to remove head lice from 3 children and herself in a period of 6 months.
The hours are spent nitpicking, nit-combing, putting on lice pesticides, doing laundry, bagging clothes and stuffed toys, cleaning the house top to bottom (needlessly). And more nitpicking, nitpicking, etc. And despite all this effort, the lice remain! It truly is a nightmare from hell. ( It happened to me twice…when it was a nightmare. Now, with the tools and method I will show you, I have cured myself of a lice infestation in under 20 minutes)
Let’s look at the cost of the parent’s hard work
( I am going to use the term “mother” below, as 90% of the parents who call me for help are women)
If we were to put an hourly wage of only $10 on mother’s time that is $1000.
Head lice insecticidal products for 4 people : 4 people X 8 bottles each X $10 each = $320
2 bottles of Lice Spray 2 x $8 = $16
3 different lousy nit removal combs costs = $30
It is your guess to the cost of electricity and water bills.
Now, if we add 4 days missed of mother’s Work at $120 a day, that’s $480.
( Women have told me that they have lost their jobs because they spend so much
time missing from work, trying to get rid of the lice from their children
or themselves.)
So we are now at $1846 plus your guess to the cost of electricity and water bills.
Mom is at the wits end, and …they still have the infestation.
